Thoughts from our community of travelers.

TRUTH has proudly hosted thousands of travellers through Cape Town’s oceans and mountains on local adventures. Here’s what they say. The retreat is the same hands, for seven days.

“TRUTH took us on a week in Cape Town. We all agreed it was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. The guides provided a first-class experience from start to finish.”

Ashley

“This was the most magical trip imaginable. The location had something to do with it, of course, but the people from TRUTH made it possible.”

Linda

“They are experienced, reliable, organised — they create unique, life-changing experiences you’ll remember forever.”

What this week supports

Protecting the coastline.

SANCCOB rescues, rehabilitates, and releases the African penguins of Boulders Beach — including the colony you’ll paddle past. Every guest adopts a penguin in their name as part of the week.

Every guest adopts a penguin. Named, in your honour.

Common questions

What you might be wondering.

What fitness level do I need?+
A baseline of regular movement — running, cycling, lifting, swimming, anything. You don't need to be an athlete. Sessions are coached and scaled to where you actually are, not where you think you should be. If you can hike for two hours and ride a bike for thirty minutes, you're in.
Will I be the only solo person?+
No. Most guests come solo. Twelve guests per week, mostly in their 30s and early 40s, balanced men and women, similar life-stage. Couples and friends are welcome — but you'll meet your crew either way.
What's included?+
Seven nights at the villa, all meals and recovery sessions, daily coaching with the team, six signature Cape Town experiences, airport transfers, and a Cape Leopard Trust + SANCCOB conservation contribution in your name. Flights, travel insurance, and visa fees are not included.
Where do you stay?+
A private mountain villa above Cape Town in Sandy Bay, on the edge of Table Mountain National Park, with the Atlantic below with the indigenous forest belt at the back gate. Spacious ensuite rooms, a sun terrace, a private training space, an outdoor recovery zone.
What's the food like?+
Local, seasonal, mostly cooked at the villa by our private chef. One evening involves a Cape Malay cooking class with a chef Jordan has known for years. All dietary needs covered.
I have dietary requirements. Is that a problem?+
Not at all. We work with the chef around any allergies, intolerances, or preferences. Mention it on your application and we'll handle it.
What if I need to cancel?+
Deposits are non-refundable but transferable to a future cohort within twelve months. Balance refunds depend on notice. Travel insurance with a cancellation policy is required.
Do I need travel insurance?+
Yes. Travel insurance is required — for medical, baggage, and trip-cancellation cover. We point you to providers we trust during the application process.
What about flights and visas?+
You book your own flights to Cape Town International. Most travellers don't need a visa for short stays in South Africa, but check your passport — we send a checklist with your confirmation.
What's Cape Town like in October?+
Spring. Average 22°C. The wind drops, the fynbos is in flower, the southern right whales are calving offshore. The best time of year here, by some distance.

Seven days that stay with you.
